I don’t know how my experience compares, but I discovered that I’d set an unrealistic goal in trying to keep up with the Rachael’s, so to speak. Today was the first day since the challenge began that I met the 1000-word/day goal I also set. My life just isn’t conducive to three regular writing days per week.

As for the voice question, I’m sure your voice will change over time, as you yourself change. Just write when you can and let the voice be what it is. Maybe the voice you don’t like is that of one of your characters or of your narrator, who is not always you.

Congratulations on getting those query letters out–I completely sympathize with how embarassing it can feel to realize you’ve sent out a query letter with errors in it (although it my case, it was my resume and cover letter with the first sentence typed twice–and the same spelling error in both sentences!)

I hear you, Jen, that’s about what I’m at, myself. I worked on Story A until it suddenly turned into a train wreck, with bits and pieces flying everywhere. Then I started work on Story B, wrote about 2/3rds of it, and it ground to a sudden halt, plot-wise.

So now I… uh… yeah. Well for one thing I’ve broken my Write-A-Go-Go resolution to not go online on the weekends, obviously. (I had to transfer funds, and… it was all downhill from there.)

Maybe our collective motivation will be reborn on Sunday.

i’m at 1500 words of junk. i’m just trying to not think about it – just mark it down as 1500 and move ON.

I think editing time is the best metric to choose. I’ve only produced 1500 words since the start, but they’ve been picked at and edited and massaged and generally messed with for HOURS.
